Kisoro Transit Camp

Yesterday was a very long, but good day. In the morning we took a flight to Kisoro. When we landed there, we went to a refugee camp. There is a rebel group called M23 who have taken over parts of Congo, including a city called Goma. These people have all fled Congo to get away from the M23 rebel group. Some of these people are children that fled with just their siblings, so now they are orphans. They don't know if their parents are alive or not.

It was amazing to see how UNICEF was able to make this camp so quickly and help all these people. The adults were out working and trying to figure out ways to come up with money, but the kids were all there to greet us. They are so beautiful. Even though there are in a terrible situation, they are happy. The younger kids were running around and laughing and the older kids were playing soccer in the field. It was amazing to see them all working together and finding joy in the hard times.

Once we left that camp we went to other areas where UNICEF as been working. We were checking out different projects that they having going on. It was really amazing to be able to watch and see how they run things. There was a lot of traveling and flying around yesterday. I had a really great time being apart of the team.

"Thank you Jesus for the opportunity to be apart of the Unicef team. Thank you for opening my eyes to more and more things. I pray God that you will be with all those children in the transit camp. Please keep them all safe and please reunite them with their families. I love you. Amen."
